God Knows You Are a Sinner

God knows you are sinner.  That is why he sent his son to die on the cross.  If we were perfect we would not need him! Here is a picture of what my wife made for me for Christmas. Sinner dog tags.  I love them.

Romans 5.  That is my favorite chapter.  Romans 5:1-11 is  the passage that had the most profound effect on me. Romans 5:8:

but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Christ did not come to die for the righteous.  He came to die for sinners like you and me. The Father looking at me and seeing my sin, my guilt, seeing my messiness, my addictions, my brokenness and seeing that I was dead in my sin – he still wanted me in his family. He wanted me as his child so much that he sent his son to die for me…He loved me in spite of me.

Mind boggling.

What this text is telling us is that even though the cross was necessary because of us, it is a beautiful picture of the love he has for us, in spite of us. So it does not matter what you have done,what you still struggle with, nothing can separate you from the love of God that is in Jesus.

Run to the cross.

Daily repent and believe on him.

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—  but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.  For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.  More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
