Verse of the Day

The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
He will not always chide,
nor will he keep his anger forever.
He does not deal with us according to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities. ~Psalm 103:8-10

Quote of the Day

“An almost Christian is one of the most hurtful creatures in the world.  He is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.  He is one of those false prophets of whom our Lord bids us beware, who would persuade men that the way to heaven is broader than it really is, and thereby enter not into the kingdom of God themselves, and those that are entering in they hinder.  These, these are the men who turn the world into a luke-warm Laodicean spirit; who hang out false lights, and so shipwreck underthinking benighted souls in their voyage to the haven where they would be.  These are they that are greater enemies of the cross of Christ than infidels themselves; for, of an unbeliever everyone will be aware; but an almost Christian, through his subtle hypocrisy, draws away many after him, and therefore must expect to receive the greater damnation.” ~ George Whitefield

Adam and Ev-olution? –  Over at reformation 21, Carl Trueman sets up the debate for us that will happen this year at TGC.  “Dr. Mohler and Dr. Keller are thoughtful, gracious, intelligent and influential church leaders.  Given their respective positions on evolution, the pressing question is: who is right?  Is the church facing a crisis because too few of her people and leaders have learned how to combine the Bible and evolution?  Or is she facing a crisis because too few of her leaders are prepared to take a stand for the Bible over against evolution?  Or, despite the claims of Dr. Mohler and Dr. Keller, does it actually not matter that much at all?” here.

Did God Create a Multiverse?  – Dr. John Byl addresses the theory of “multiverse” (as opposed to a universe) in his latest post over at Bylogos:  “Are there other physical universes beyond our observable world? Many scientists believe so. It is speculated that there are infinitely many other universes parallel to ours. The entire complex of universes is called the multiverse. Some Christians have supported the theological viability of a multiverse. How compelling is their case?”  Find out here.

Don’t Slash the Gospel Tires with that “I Can’t” business – Erik Raymond over at Ordinary Pastor tells us why we should stop saying “I can’t.”  Read it  here.

The prochoice Movement Finds Religion:  Here is a great article by Jonathon Van Maren from the Canadian Center for Bio-ethical Reform. “My friend Patricia offers a single reason for her passionate defense of reproductive care that includes abortion: Every baby should have its toes kissed. If life is precious…then being able to stop an ill-conceived gestation is a sacred gift.” Is one of the most grotesque things I have ever heard, read the whole article here.
