In order for people to come to faith and be born again, it is important that they have opportunities to be among Christians who are strong in faith and live their lives with integrity. I’m Not a Christian, But I am Coming to Your Church this Sunday.
If you read my blog, or know me personally, you know that I am passionate about reaching out to others with the Gospel message. I have yet to have someone accept my invitation to come to church with me. Although I am sure soon someone may accept. So if you are a member in my congregation in Chilliwack, or in the Abbotsford congregation (because I work across the street from your building and might send em your way 😉 ), Reformed Outfitters has good article for you to read so you know how to behave when I show up at church with a new person. 🙂 Read it here.
Contrary to The Federal Vision Movement
Pastor Wes Bredenhof writes: “It’s that time again when Canadian Reformed consistories are reading reports for an upcoming synod. That synod will be in May in Carman, Manitoba. Some of the reports are more interesting than others. One that I find especially encouraging is the Report of the Coordinators for the Committee for Church Unity. This is the committee charged with facilitating contact with the United Reformed Churches with a view to full federational unity. We’re a long ways off from reaching that goal, but there are some good developments to take note of.” Read the whole thing Here.
Why Did God Use Spurgeon?
Today on the On the Gospel Coalition blog, the question of why God used CH Spurgeon is addressed. “When the 19-year-old Spurgeon received a call to the New Park Street Church in April 1854, the church was fledgling and less than healthy; but within ten months the congregation grew to such a size that it was forced to move to Exeter Hall. Before long even Exeter Hall was inadequate, which caused another move, this time to Surrey Gardens Music Hall, where Spurgeon preached to more than 9,000 men and women each Sunday. The ministry continued to flourish, so much that on October 7, 1857, the Prince of Preachers addressed a record crowd of 23,654 in the famous Crystal Palace. Dream, Pray, Do.
Jaco and Andrea Devisser (My brother and sister in law/Teresa’s sister) and their family are about to go on a kingdom journey. It is certainly an exciting time for them. They will be leaving the comforts of home, the comfort of a well paying government job, the comfort of their church community and friends… They are going to give up all that they know for the cause of spreading the gospel of Christ.
