Verse of the Day

11 Here is a trustworthy saying:

If we died with him,
we will also live with him;
12 if we endure,
we will also reign with him.
If we disown him,
he will also disown us;
13 if we are faithless,
he remains faithful,
for he cannot disown himself. ~2 Timothy

Quote of the Day

Here are two quotes from the evening for preparing for seminary at the Langely CanRC last night. I was greatly amused by the question.  Pastor Ryan DeJonge asked all the recent seminary grads to give an example of how they are normal (because we all know that anyone in seminary or pastoral ministry is not normal…)

Pastor Ryan Dejonge: “I check TSN a number of times throughout the day.”

Pastor Abel Pol: “I used to wait in the library (at CRTS) with a plastic Nerf gun and when he (points at Pastor Justin Roukema)  came down I would shoot him…”

TIME Sounds the Alarm: The Pro-Life Cause is Winning

Trevin Wax, from The Gospel Coalition, takes a look at the Time Magazine article “What Choice.” He says, “Not surprisingly, the story is biased against the pro-life cause. Though the issue of “personhood” and “life” is alluded to (see below), Pickert never explores the reasons for a surge in pro-life activity. Had she sought to explain the pro-life perspective, she would have shown how this debate is really a showdown between reproductive rights and human rights, and which rights are foundational to freedom.” Read the whole article Here.

How to Pray Using Scripture

Kevin Deyoung touches on a topic that I like to harp on in my posts. Prayer. He says, “Sometimes it’s the simplest things that make the biggest difference. For many years I’ve used the 3 R’s I learned from Ben Patterson to pray through Scripture. This simple tool has helped me pray the Bible more than any other single strategy. I’ve used in my devotional times and have employed it often in leading others in prayer.

1. Rejoice
2. Repent
3. Request”

Fitness Goals and the New Year

“Our bodies are made for worship and if the Lord has us live long enough, we may be left with bodies that are unable to do anything but worship.” An interesting read from the Desiring God Blog written fro the point of view of a Christian woman who was involved in the fitness industry.
